Cheap DVDs: Iron Man (Special Collector’s Edition) [Blu-ray] (2008) June 30, 2008

After being busy selecting some home lighting, I only have time to talk about Iron Man now.
I am a big Marvel Comics fan, always have been, but I shall be amongst the first to throw stones at Marvel and Hollywood for the way they’ve treated so many of me childhood heroes on the silver screen. “Spiderman” was fine, but all the rest of the lot were… well, less than good.
Then comes “Iron Man“. I was expecting “Fantastic Dare-Hulk 7″ but what I got was something different entirely. It was really good.
“Iron Man” is well casted, well played, and indeed, well made.
The action sequences doesn’t steal the picture absolutely, as have been the case with earlier superhero films; nor does the film lack character development. The humor works, for a change, and although this film absolutely is sci-fi d’or, it somehow doesn’t seem that far fetched. It is made believable, or at least acceptable.
To Save Money, Watch Cheap DVDs June 25, 2008
Posted by in : Money Saving Shopping Tips , 1 comment so farHubby and I are in the city again for a few days. Even though my aunt lets us stay at her condo hotel, we still prefer staying at her house.
Her house is so comfortable and fully equipped with Wi Fi and cable TV that I have been addicted to watching cheap DVDs there.
I think watching tonnes of DVDs at my aunt’s place does save me some money.

I am grateful that I can use my cousin’s computer for my online work. Otherwise, I have to resort to computer rentals for a few days in order to complete my online assignments.
Not only am I free to use the computer for my work, I can also watch as many DVDs as I like during my stay at my aunt’s house.
Tomorrow, hubby and I will be back to my aunt’s house again. I guess I am going to complete Army Wives: The Complete First Season.
This show of Army Wives: The Complete First Seasonis amazing. It’s a little unrealistic in some respects (as far as the military goes), but other than that - it’s fantastic! It’s entertaining and also gives you insight into some aspects of military life.
It’s funny, emotionally heart-wrenching, and touching all at the same time. Once you watch it, you’ll laugh, you’ll cry…and you’ll want to buy the DVDs!

During my stay at my aunt’s house, I got the chance to watch tonnes of DVDs. I can’t believe the huge collection of cheap DVDs that my cousins own. I think it’s going to take me a few months to finish all the movies.
I managed to watch the Complete Third Season of Sex and the City while searching for herbal acne treatment information and managing my niche blogs.
I’ve loved each season of Sex and the City, but, in my opinion, the third season is the best one!
This is the season where the characters begin to evolve and grow as people. It is also the season in which Charlotte (Kristen Davis) marries Trey (Kyle McLachlan) and Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) meets the gorgeous and adorable Aidan (John Corbett). And need I mention the eternal party girl Samantha (Kim Cattrall), the cynical career girl Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), the memorable Mr. Big (Chris Noth) and the show’s brightest star — other than SJP — New York City!

Staying at my aunt’s home is great. My aunt and her family will only be home in the evening, therefore hubby and I are free to do anything we like. While hubby is out, I can watch DVDs, manage my blogs, read magazines or sleep in the house without having to entertain anyone.
I can’t believe my cousins’ huge collections of DVDs when they showed me. According to them, finding cheap DVDs is as easy as finding generic Phentermine if you have good network with the right sellers or distributors.

So your kids are still crazy about High School Musical’s Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens? I guess they should be ready for ‘High School Musical 3: Senior Year’ that is coming back October 24 on the big screen.
I will never forget the day I received High School Musical 1 & 2 Cheap DVDs from Amazon.com. Kids from the neighborhood crammed into my house watching the movies and saying positive things to me about the movies.
Hubby suggested we place 2 popcorn machines on the porch and in the home theater room respectively since the kids are prone to watching DVDs in our house. Money collected can be used to pay off our utility bills and the maintenance fees of our home theater.

While dusting some cheap DVDs this morning, I was surprised to have found back Julia Roberts’ My Best Friend’s Wedding that had been lost for some time. It was among some travel supplies.
I miss My Best Friend’s Wedding Julia Roberts so much. When is she going to release a new movie? No idea.
The latest news is that Pretty Woman Julia Roberts will host the annual fund-raising gala for Westport Country Playhouse on Monday, Sept. 15. That’s all?
She must be enjoying her motherhood so much that acting has taken a back seat. She is a mother of three kids now.
Buy Cheap DVDs: Matt Damon - The Bourne Identity [HD DVD] (2002) May 7, 2008

The Bourne Identity is a superb action and drama movie. It is not a non-stop action thriller but yet is sure to keep your interest because you don’t know what is going to happen next.
The Bourne Identity’s Matt Damon (as Jason Bourne) has no clue what is going on. All he knows is that people are trying to assassinate him. Towards the middle of the movie it becomes very intense. Bourne’s agency sends out three agents to kill Bourne. At this point Bourne must combat these guys. Each guy is fought in a different way, separating this movie from the typical action movie.
HD DVD quality is excellent and allows you to rediscover the movie, specially the audio which is very good.
I am going to recommend a few more cheap DVDs after I check through my home insurance policy.

Lust, Caution (Widescreen NC-17 Edition) (2007). I saw this movie twice in the theater - very unusual for someone as critical of movies as I am.
The first time I went by myself, and the second time I took my husband, who was not initially interested in the story line (espionage and all). He was profoundly moved by it as well.
I’m not exaggerating - I was like in a zone for a few days after I saw the movie. It really shook me to the core in a sense.
A very powerful movie in and of itself, it moves me particularly because I am originally from China and Eileen Chang was one of my favorite writers when I was a teenager book worm.
Having grown up surrounded by the communist propaganda, I found it refreshing to watch a movie so artfully done to create a theme about love, sexuality and loyalty. It shows how innocent and ignorant the young revolutionaries could be (something that was obviously omitted in our history lessons).
This Lust, Caution is a movie about powerful human emotions, like all the other movies directed by Ang Lee. I’m also happy to see Ang Lee sticking to making movies based on good, solid stories, instead of falling into the ‘glitz overriding story’ trap like so many other talented Chinese directors, Zhang Yimou and Cheng Kaige specifically.
My husband and I went on an Ang Lee mini marathon after watching this movie, and saw The Ice Storm, and Eat, Drink, Man, Woman. We really think Ang Lee is a genius film-maker.
Ang Lee breaks through again with a masterful adaptation of Eileen Chang’s short story, Lust/Caution (like what he did with Annie Prolux’s similarly brief story, Brokeback Mountain). While the hype seems to be mostly misplaced on the controversial acrobatics displayed by Tony Leung and Tang Wei in bed, Lee’s storytelling leaves one breathless.

The love story unfolds against the backdrop of 1930’s Japanese-invaded Shanghai where tyranny and suffering were synonymous.
Nubile Wang Jia Zhi played by Tang Wei joins the resistance movement and gets herself drawn into the role of a spy to crumble the traitor, Mr Yee. In between the espionage and wild climatic trysts, both of them unknowingly embroil themselves in love and deceit, much deeper than they would have liked themselves to.
Tang Wei, as a newcomer to cinema, is impeccable. Her evolution from a wide-eyed country girl to a seductive temptress is enough to make the hardest of most men, in this case, the distrusting Mr. Yee fall for her.
Wei acts pretty much on instincts and her body language does wonders at seducing the somewhat vulnerable Mr. Yee played by multiple-award winner Tony Leung. Wei breaks down in the memorable scene where she’s talking to the resistance leader on her unyieldingly sacrificial role that is both a torment and insidious attack to her emotions.
As usual, Tony has the penchant for playing dark brooding men and in this instance, an evil Chinese traitor. He does not act. His presence already commands attention as the cynical no-nonsense minister.
The pivotal sex scenes, split into three parts, are not just there for visual enhancement. They actually convey the shift in roles between the two throughout their complex relationship. The raw emotions displayed on their faces were enough to convince anyone hard-hearted to think twice about the essence of love. I must say these are some of the best bed scenes you’ll ever witness on film.
Of course, the supporting cast of Joan Chen as Mrs Yee and Wong Lee-Hom as Tang Wei’s resistance compatriot, Kuang Yu Min, is every bit just as spectacular.
In the end, the story about love is bittersweet. You’ll also see how fervent the resistance movement, which puts the enemy above self and others, was through Wang Jia Zhi’s eyes.
Cheap DVD Lust Caution is 157 minutes’ of rewarding watch that will linger on in your minds well after the credits roll.
