Hot mama Britney Spears was involved in a car crash last Saturday night on the Ventura Freeway in Los Angeles.

In slow-moving traffic, Spears drove her Mercedes into a Nissan, which in turn bumped into the car in front of it. She wasn’t drunk, but was putting on her makeup behind the wheel!

According to sources, the guy she hit was checking her out – admiring the white Mercedes and the gal putting on makeup while driving. It wasn’t until after she collided with his car at an estimated 10-15 mph that he realized the woman was none other than Britney Spears.

Britney Spears did not apologize to the driver. She and the 21-year-old crash victim only exchanged a few words, however she did mention that she was on the way to dinner with her mom, Lynne Spears.

An executive producer for “How I Met Your Mother” says he’s open to having Britney Spears return for another cameo. If her character pops, he’ll bring her back.

Spears, 26, garnered good reviews for her guest starring role as a goofy receptionist in the March 24 episode of the cult CBS sitcom. The show ended with Spears’ character flirting with womanizer Barney (Neil Patrick Harris).

On the following episode, the show introduced a “mystery woman” who’s been sabotaging Barney’s usually successful attempts to pick up ladies.

Asked if Spears might turn out to be the saboteur, Bays said: “Could be. There’s no reason why not.” He also suggested actress Sarah Chalke, who guest starred alongside Spears.

Bays said it was surreal to see Spears on the set.

“It was totally weird. … I think we have a very, like, kind of Midwestern homey vibe here on the show, and it was strange to suddenly have helicopters circling,” he said.

So will she or won’t she come back? “I don’t know,” he said. “I don’t know the answer to that.”

Just read that animal rights activist group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is offering Britney Spears some work after catching Brit’s “excellent performance” on How I Met Your Mother. They want to offer her a gig as a receptionist (Brit played a receptionist on the popular CBS show).

The organization hopes the pop singer Britney Spears will take up on the offer so that they can inform her about “issues like fur, homeless dogs and cats, and cat tree collections”

PETA has lashed out at Britney in the past for her wearing of fur and for buying puppies from pet stores.

In the early morning hours of January 31, Britney Spears was transported by ambulance to UCLA Medical Center. Reports indicate the 26-year-old singer will be kept in the hospital for a 72-hour involuntary psychiatric evaluation.

According to People magazine’s web site, Spears’ friend and manager Sam Lufti said, “She went willingly. It was like something in her heart was telling her she should go. She knew something was wrong.” Britney was first hospitalized for observation in early January, but checked herself out after spending only two nights in the medical facility.

Reports say the difference between the two hospitalizations is this time it was planned in advance by her psychiatrist, Dr. Deborah Nadel. Nadel can recommend a two-week stay at UCLA Medical Center, but patients rights workers will determine if an extension is legally justified.

The troubled life of hot mama Britney Spears added a new chapter when the intoxicated pop star was whisked away in an ambulance after police were called to her house to help end a nearly three-hour custody standoff involving her young sons.

The 26-year-old pop star was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Spears appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance.

Spears was conscious late Thursday when paramedics took her out of her home in a gurney. Several police cars escorted the ambulance out of the neighborhood, followed by dozens of paparazzi.

Officers were called to Spears’ house around 8 p.m. to respond to the custody dispute with ex-husband Kevin Federline over their sons, 2-year-old Sean Preston and 1-year-old Jayden James.

By about 10:30 p.m., six police cars, two ambulances and a fire truck had entered the gated-community that includes Spears’ house. Several police cars were seen in the area earlier in the night.

Spears turned over the children around 10:50 p.m.

Spears and Federline have been involved in a long and very public custody battle. Federline has temporary custody of the children because Spears, who has limited visitation rights, has defied court orders. The two were married in October 2004 and divorced in July.

Spears has appeared increasingly out of control during the past year. She has been photographed without underwear and appeared to be drunk and out-of-control. She shaved her head, beat a car with an umbrella and spent a month in rehab and has had a handful of fender benders, including one in which she ran over a photographer’s foot.
